Municipality of Perama – Personal assistant to persons with disabilities

The first phase of the pilot program of personal assistant to persons with disabilities begins for a thousand beneficiaries with main residence within the borders of the Attica Region. The personal assistance will be provided for two year and  the information about the procedures required for a disabled citizen to participate in the program is given by the Municipality of Perama.

The program is being operated for the first time in Greece and is addressed to citizens aged 16 to 65, with a certified disability based on KEPA(Disability Certification Centre)opinion, with a total percentage equal to or greater than 67%, who do not have an individual income or have an individual income not exceeding amount of 60,000 euros. The assessment concerning the need to provide a personal assistant  is done by special interdisciplinary evaluation committees, consisted of an occupational therapist, a social worker and a psychologist.These committees shall assess, in particular, on the basis of the applicants’ ability to serve themselves, their mobility and their cognitive perception, about the need for a personal assistant, taking into account their living conditions. The application is submitted electronically while any supporting documents will be posted electronically accompanying the application.
