The Digital History Repository of the Municipality was recently presented in the auditorium of the town hall, in an event that was celebrated with the presence of citizens, scientists, representatives from the academic society and local government, officials as well as representatives of the contracting company.
The aim of the event, which was broadcast live by the channel of the Municipality, was to present the so important infrastructure of the Municipal Library of Kalyvia, the Digital History Repository of the Municipality. A service resulted from the collaboration of several specialties.
The mayor of Saronikos, Mr Petros Filippou, referred to the central role of the Repository as a center of historical documentation. “The aim of the project is to collect evidence, as well as information (data) about persons, monuments and organizations that highlight the history and culture of the Municipality and its Communities or that are directly or indirectly related to it, in order to preserve, display and made accessible for further research and use by the wider public. From the first moment, we believed in its importance and today, we are particularly satisfied and proud that we present a joint effort of scientists, elected representatives and academics that brings the historicity of the region one step closer to the citizens”, underlined Mr P. Filippou.The Digital Repository is a service, which does not complete, nor does stay still. On the contrary, it evolves according to the needs, in terms of the content added, the way the data is linked and displayed, where and how emphasis is put on and on which collections, as well as the special characteristics of each collection.
